Livestock Exports are key source of income for Sudan

São Paulo – Sudan reached USD 83.7 million in livestock and fish farming exports revenue from January to April this year, according to information released by the country’s official news agency, Sudan News Agency (SUNA), based on data provided by the Ministry of Animal Resources. Animals and byproducts rank second among the goods most exported by Sudanese.

According to the ministry, 473,200 animals were sent abroad in the first four months of 2022 by Sudan, including 386,000 sheep, 42,600 cattle, 42,000 camels, and 2,600 goats. Five thousand four hundred tonnes of fresh meat, 398,000 pieces of leather, and 75,000 tonnes of fish were also exported.

Sudan’s primary markets abroad in the segment are the Arab and Gulf countries and China. Saudi Arabia is one of the foremost buyers of Sudanese animal products. SUNA reported in just two days this week, Wednesday (25) and Thursday (26), the Arab country shipped 14,500 sheep and 239 camels to the Saudi market. Sudan is located in North Africa.
